Talents:

Cutie Mark: A flaming cutlass; earned for being an exceptional sword fighter and for her ability to breathe fire. She often uses the two simultaneously to help her gain the upper hoof in battle.

She first earned the mark while she was fighting her father for the final time. A cutlass was lying nearby and she lit it aflame with her fire and used it in the fight.

Abilities/Attributes:

• Can breathe fire at whim, and her flame is hot enough to melt aluminum.
• Blind in her right eye. She lost her vision when her father clawed her in the face as a young filly.
• Can swim fairly well, but still prefers being on a ship. When in the water, her mane tends to slow her down.
• Her tattoo and locket are both prized possessions.
• Little known fact, she can play piano. She has a soft spot for sea shanties and irish pub music.
• She cut the notch in her left ear with her own cutlass.
• She prefers meat and fish, but can eat vegetables and fruits to keep from getting sick while at sea.
• She bought her hat and her jacket (not shown) with some of the looted money she got from her various adventures. Her cutlass is the same one she used on her father. She will never part with it for the life of her. She had it made fireproof and fire-hardened so she can light it aflame whenever she wishes and use it in battle. Her necklace and earrings are also plundered loot she got from various fights.

Demeanor:

Personality: Typically easy going, she is a smooth talker and a natural born con-mare. When her fast wits aren't able to save her, she is quick with her cutlass, and her fire breathing is usually distraction enough for her to make a quick escape. She is somewhat introverted with her true emotions and instead prefers to appear strong and steadfast in most situations, even if that's not how she feels inside.

She is understanding of other ponies situations, and is always looking to expand her crew or acquire another ship. She has plans to be a commodore one day. She hoards jewels and gold but is fair to her crew and distributes what she doesn't keep evenly. Despite this, she is quick to help those in need and will draw out of her private share to help total strangers.

When enraged, she tends to lose track of herself and her surroundings, instead she focuses on bringing swift retribution to those who have wronged her or her crew. She doesn't take attitude from anyone, and is slightly unforgiving and volatile.

Friendship/Loyalty: She'd sacrifice her own comfort and happiness to protect her crew or her few friends. She doesn't mind sleeping in the rain if it means her friends and crew get the tents or the below deck cabins.

She respects her inferiors because she knows that few people have ever, or will ever, treat them the same way ever again. Besides, she knows that in treating them well, she's earning their respect, trust, and loyalty and she knows that in her time of need that will come in handy.

Protects the weak, needy, low, and stepped on.

Bio:

Born the daughter of a dragon father and a unicorn mother, Nitrous knew she'd never lead a fully normal life like the other fillies. Being born of two different races is very unorthodox, and she was always picked on or pushed around by everyone around her. Her parents were not ideal, either. Her father was a cruel, abusive, and very large dragon and he was not one you could mess with and live to tell the tale; meanwhile, her mother was a sweet little thing with little willpower. Safe to say it was a match made in hell.

However dark and sad her life seemed to be, Nitrous always had her escapes. She loved to daydream about life on the water, and would often sit on the dock and watch ships and their crews go about their days. She saw pirates as free souls doing what they want and going where they pleased, but did not have any intention of actually becoming one until a particularly violent and vicious fight with her father. After losing her eye, a good portion of her ear, and all remaining respect for him, she knew there was no other choice.

Waiting until cover of night, she stowed away onto a ship and when the captain and crew stepped off board to visit a bar the next day, she sailed away from the dock, claiming the ship for herself. Immediately, she began looking for a crew to tend to the ship and help her in her adventures. And so, she rescued other ponies who seemed to be going through similar or equally troublesome situations and she showed them the "good life". Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, she keeps the finer trinkets to herself and distributes a portion of it to her crew, to thank them for their loyalty. She treats her crew with the utmost respect and kindness, because she knows their backgrounds were equally (if not more) troubling than hers.

After earning enough money, she had cannons installed on the ship, the name of the ship was changed to "The Crocodile", it was repainted, and its sails were changed from white to black. It also flies the "Jolly Roger" for its flag.
